Paneer Butter Masala

Paneer Butter Masala

Ingredients:
Paneer - 250 gms (cut into cubes)
Tomatoes - 4 Large (chopped)
Onion - 1 Large (chopped)
Fresh ginger paste - 1 tsp
Fresh garlic paste - 1 tsp
Bay leaves - 2
Cinnamon powder - 1 tsp
Cloves - 2 (grounded)
Red chili powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Kasoori methi - 1 tsp (roasted and crushed)
Butter - 3 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Fresh cream - 2 tbsp
Salt - to taste


Procedure :
  • Heat butter in a deep pan and add cloves, bay leaves and cinnamon powder. Saute` for a few seconds and then add onions.
  • Stir fry the onions and add the ginger, garlic paste. Saute' for a few minutes and add the chopped tomatoes.
  • Add red chili powder, coriander powder and cook till the oil begins to separate.
  • When the masala is done, turn the gas off and let it cool for sometime.
  • Grind this masala into a fine puree`.
  • Now in a separate pan, heat the oil and cook this pureed mixture for a minute or two.
  • Add paneer cubes and salt.
  • Add some water, cover it and let it cook for a few more minutes.
  • Sprinkle over some kasoori methi.
  • Remove from heat and gently stir in the fresh cream.
  • Serve hot.

Note : For a good paneer preparation, the key is to use good quality paneer, either homemade or store-bought.
