Kehwa. Kashmiri Green tea.

Kehwa (or Mugail chai) is a aromatic traditional green tea which originated in Kashmir.

Serves : 4
Water : 4 cups
Green Cardamom : 2 (ground)
Cinnamon : a pinch
Green tea : 1/2 tsp
Saffron(kesar) : 2-4 strands
Almonds : 3-4 (shredded)
Sugar : 3-4 tsp (to taste)
  • Heat water in a tea pan.
  • Grind tea leaves on your left palm with the help of your right thumb. Add this to the boiling water.
  • Add cardamom, cinnamon and saffron.
  • Add sugar.
  • Let it boil for 4-5 mins. Cover it with a lid for a minute and then serve hot.
  • Add the shredded almonds in the cups and then pour the tea over it through a sieve. 
PS : kehwa is also had as a herbal infusion which is made without the green tea leaves..

    Hi Manisha...
    Just saw all your kashmiri recipes and i am glad . I love my kahwa ( without kesar) and it's a staple at my place...all the other kashmiri recipes you have here are my favorites ...Thanks for finding me on Indiblogger , as i could come and see your wonderful blog.
